So you’ve committed to work on your tailwheel endorsement? Great! Now what?
Here are the things you can do to prepare:
Early homework:
- I highly suggest you purchase and read through the book The Compleat Taildragger Pilot* by Harvey S. Plourde.
- Get familiar with the FAA data for the following airports: KRBD, KLNC, KJWY, T13
- Check out this YouTube Playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL747ydJPsi4fTV6t0guXktxHgXRb-JJ0S&si=uDOlkB6qjNDGPkpI
- Click HERE to view an article on Side-Load from an old magazine.
- Look over a sample Piper PA-18 Super Cub flight manual HERE.
Before flying
- Consider wearing snag-free shoes with relatively thin soles and heels that will not snag on the heel brakes if flying the Super Cub
- Stay in good physical shape, and be hydrating prior to your flights.
- Bring your logbook, pilot certificates and medical, and photo ID.
- Bring your favorite headset – both standard and Lemo plugs are available in the Super Cub
- More coming…
